Hard Work Pays Off...Believe That!

So in one of my earlier posts I waxed lyrical about the struggle to find some work related happiness...well, guys, I gots me some work related happiness! *dougies*

Basically, I have a new job starting tomorrow! It's such an amazing opportunity and I'm so thankful

Friday was my last day at the internship and I was actually quite sad, I've had such an great time and met some really nice people

On my last day, I was asked to pull some shoes from the show room and when I came back up, I found this on my desk...

That's two shoe boxes, a card and a cupcake!

I was so surprised, I expected something but not this much! I was well chuffed I tell ya!

I'm not even gonna go on about how happy I am or how fierce the shoesies look or how much they - oh wait, I was about to go off on one wasn't I...

All I will say is this;
God is real...
never forget that

A Breath of Fresh Air...

I went HMV last Friday to spend a £5 voucher they sent me via email - why, i'm not quite sure but you know what they say about looking gift horses in the mouth and all that jazz...

As I walked in I saw Florence + The Machines album 'Between Two Lungs', i've always liked their version of 'You Got The Love' so I thought "why not?"

Maaaan, its turned out so much better than my last 'impulse buy' - hol tite B.O.B and 'The Adventures of Bobby Ray' 0_o

Anyways, to abbreviate; the cd has not left my stereo since then and Florence Welch is my new girl crush...

Here are a few pics to illustrate why...

Everything about her is so KICK ASS... her voice, her style and the fact that she has a machine that can sing and play instruments...

Florence Welch, I heart you!

"And They Say London Is Dead..."

Another new segment to be added to my ever growing list of segments...

Since last Summer, my good friend @BobbiWande has taken to saying the above phrase whenever he's out'n'about in LDN vybsin, livin and generally having a good time...

If, like me, you're a Londoner born and bred, lived here all your life and asides from the three years away at uni or the odd holiday (where you get on a plane just to see the same faces that you see anyways *coughs* Napa *coughs*) then you can agree that London is sometimes a bit...dull...boring...dead

So it's always a pleasant surprise, a novelty even, to genuinely enjoy yourself on your own doorstep. Whether it be a random day in the park, a free music event or a night out for drinks that turns into so much more London is still managing to hold its own...

Friday just gone, it was sunny and me and @BobbiWande decided to hang around in West End and do like the tourists do.

We started off by taking a fast stroll down Regent St towards Picadilly Circus...as we got closer to the bright lights, I felt a sudden childish urge come over me...next thing I know, we were in Trocadero buying tokens for the bumper cars...it was too sick, I made friends with some Spanish girl - hol tite Anna Maria!

Following the bumper to bumper action #NoWandeCole we made our way towards Haagen-Dazs for some waffles and ice cream...on our way, I spotted a crowd of people congregating outside KFC and me being me, I just had to check it out...

After that decent musical interlude we carried on towards Haagen D but when we got there, it was closed for a refurb...I was NOT pleased...

We got a slice of pizza (something to cover up the disappointment...temporarily) then made our way across to TGI's... a Popcorn Brownie Sundae, Chocolate Fudge Fixation and Jack Daniels Wings soaked up the lingering remnants of disappointment for good.

We decided to call it a night and started the long walk to Charing Cross from Leicester Sq - well its a long walk to me - on our way, we saw a random group of scantily clad, attractive women dancing in front of a taxi to Tinie Tempah's 'Miami2Ibiza'...we bubbled, I can't lie...and on we went

Got to the corner of Trafalgar Sq and saw a stage and crowds of people, so we decided to investigate...I personally thought it was a free concert, I mean they do that in New York right, so why not in London? Yea, I shoulda remembered that this is London so instead of a free concert it was a Book-Reading-Live-On-Stage-In-The-Cold kinda event...allows

I saw people walking into a building and we followed...it was the National Gallery...after looking at paintings of naked oyinbo people for about 17 minutes we had had our fill of 'culture' and actually made our way home...

This may not seem interesting to you but please believe I had such a sick day...

How can I make a new friend, vybes to Tinie in the street and learn about minimalist art from the 60's all in one day...

...And they say London is dead

Back Down Memory Lane....

Me and my 17 year old brother went to the High St last week and as we were on our way back, he started humming the PowerPuff Girls soundtrack...I added the vocals and he was quick on the uptake and started beat boxing. Next thing you know, we were like a live episode of  'Taina' - if you need to be reminded of what 'Taina' was then you are so not gonna get this post *rolls eyes*...

Anyway, it got me to thinking about my childhood: Live and Kicking, The Cartoon Network, Gladiators, DragonBall Z, Captain Planet, SM:TV,The Chart Show and so on and so forth...thus inspiring the following visual images, video clips and general 'buzz' quotes that sum up my youth...

"Its MIGHTY MORPHIN TIME"

"Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?
The same thing we do every night, Pinky - try to take over the world!"

"I...put the screw...in the tuna!"

"If you walk out that door, don't come back no mo!"

"It's not baby fat, it's just fat, baby"

The thing is, I know i've missed out quite a few shows but if I tried to include everything, I would still be here next week...

Hol tite all my 80's babies who grew up in the 90's and are old enough to feel sorry for the children of the 00's....

We had it good ya'll

Bon Bon Vie: Birthday Soul

It was my friends birthday recently and to mark the occasion, she had a week long celebration...

Amidst cocktail making and Usher watching (we went to the concert, one word: A-MAZING!) she also found time to get serenaded at a bar we went to - NOT by Usher but that would have been A-MAZING aswell

The event was called 'Poetry N Motion'...iLoved it! It was so cool and mature...it had a true vybe. It reminded me of the kind of place that Moesha and Q would have gone on one of their dates...singing, spoken word and a few laughs...

So anyways, my friend was on her way to the loo when this happened...

Needless to say she was a taken aback but I think she secretly enjoyed it! I mean the guys voice was hot chocolate on a cold night...

Here's to more birthdays and more vybsings for 2011 and beyond! #NoBuzzLightYear
