Militant Sounds

This year just keeps getting better...

I see so many people around me setting and smashing targets..

This is Michael Agyei...

I've known him for over half of my life! We went to secondary school and college together and have remained firm friends since...

He is an up'n'coming gospel artist and a preacher and spoken word poet going by the name of Lyrical Soldier.

On Saturday he hosted his own concert in the heart of London's West End; Oxford St.

It was a beautiful evening filled with laughter, dancing and of course, music.

What a blessing it was to see the room packed with people from all walks of life come together to worship and praise God on a Saturday night...

There were many performances and collaborations with the likes of
The ONE Acapella
Shadrach Stone
Kia
Conrad
Child of Zion
Jake Isaac
Ekklesia
Joel Duntin
NLA
Conrad
and
Dilema

These are all the (semi-good) pics I was able to capture - I was too busy dancing

Don't watch the shaky camera, as I said, I was too busy dancing!

Much love to you Mike!

Double Take

As red blooded human beings we all have our favourite (looking) actors, singers, athletes and general celebrities. The ones that we watch their music videos or pay to sit through their movies just because we want to see and ogle and perve over and fantasise about them...

And of course you have the celebs that you wouldn't look at twice on a normal day...not to say that they're unattractive or anything, just that they aren't your cup of tea...

But then you catch them in one film, heck, even just a particular scene in a film when you're like 'hot diggity dayumm, who is that?!'

When I saw the following, I uttered the phrase above and really did a double take:

I know alot of people feel Brad, i've never been one of them but when I saw him in Oceans 11 I was entranced...
Brad Pitt as Rusty Ryan

I first watched Speed when I was really young, but when I watched it again a few years ago, I couldn't believe that this was Neo aka Thomas Anderson aka The One...

I think it's that dark hair, broody eyes and semi-buzz cut...

Keanu Reeves as Officer Jack Traven

I've always thought that The Bloomster was a looker from when I saw him as Legolas in 'Lord of the Rings' but when he appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean, I really did go and buy the DVD box set...

Orlando Bloom as Will Turner

Common has looked the same since like forever but there was something about him in Smokin Aces that made me sit up in my cinema seat and take notice..

Common as Sir Ivy

When I watched 'Inception' I knew there was something about Tom that I liked however it was only until I bought RocknRolla on DVD that I realised how much of a hottie he really is...

Tom Hardy as Handsome Bob

I went to see Amityville Horror for a friends birthday when I was in college, that film scared the life outta me but somehow whenever Mr Reynolds would appear on screen, my eyes would make an appearance from behind my hands...

Ryan Reynolds as George Lutz

As a fanatical viewer of CSI, i'm used to seeing good ol' Larry on my screen every week but whenever I watch him in Boyz N The Hood i'm just like...

Laurence Fishburne as Furious Styles

I've got a few more but I think they're a bit too kinky to share...
I joke..
or
Do I...

"And They Say London Is Dead..."

After going to Wireless Festival last year and hearing the likes of Jay Z, Wale, Lily Allen, Chase & Status and Roll Deep live, seeing Tinie Tempah, Mr Hudson, Dru Hill and BlackStreet in their respective concerts, I made a vow at the start of this year to go to more concerts, festivals and live music events...

This year started off on a real vybe...J.Cole and Usher were seen in January and February and I thought I was on a roll...then it slowed down...

Enter: 'Festival Season'

This year there has been so many things happening in and around London, it's hard to keep up to speed...

A couple weeks ago I went to this years Wireless Festival in Hyde Park...

The line up included:
Tinie Tempah
Bruno Mars
Example
Plan B
Far East Movement
David Guetta
Yasmin
Jodie Connor...
headlining were the Black Eyed Peas

Here are some snaps from the day...

Kwarbs

Somebody had a nice time...but it had just started

This guy really wanted to see David Guetta

As i'm sure you know I've recently become obsessed with making videos... *queue playback*

The other day myself and my partner in crime went to the Orange RockCorps concert as a reward for volunteering with them for 4 hours one random Sunday afternoon in May...

This was a real vybe, 11,000 people (mostly teens - probably at their first ever concert) packed into Wembley Arena to hear:
Eliza Doolittle
Professor Green
Primal Scream - we'd never heard of them so that was a real 'toilet break' moment
Wretch 32
Kelis
AND
Diddy Dirty Money! With special guests Chipmunk and Skepta

I dunno if you can detect the excitement here but please believe it was a fantastic evening...and it was free!

Here's some footage from the evening...

Old school garage in Hyde Park, David Guetta in a tent and Diddy Dirty Money for free...

...And they say London is dead

Cougar In The Making?

In uni I used to be a real ravers clavers, chicken and beer #NoMrVegas - but yea, you name a coach rave held between 2006 and 2008, I was there...

Liquid on a Monday? Course!
Marinos on a Wednesday? Pssshhh!

A random talent show/fashion show/MC battle with an after-party in the Student Union? Fuhgeddaboudit!

However, after I graduated and moved back to London, that whole aspect of my life really calmed down...I went down the drinks-after-work-in-a-trendy-Liverpool St-bar route instead...

Now I know all the stereotypes about raving and the kinda people you meet in raves yada yada yada but that doesn't mean one can't look and occasionally engage in a bitta lighthearted banter right?

The last rave I went to was a couple months ago during which I got talking to a really cute guy, just finding out his gist or walleva...about 10 minutes into the convo, I found out that he was 19 years old...I blinked twice rapidly and then made a hasty retreat outta there...

It did get me thinking about how all these youngsters are looking alot less young and alot more...my age...

Then you have the ones that you know are younger than you but can't help admiring...

Below I have listed the three main culprits who are guilty of making me take a trip to Cougar Town - even if it's only in my head...

First of all we have Chris Brown -born in 1989, more like NineteenEightyFine!

Debonair in black

Phwoarr!

Second of all we have Tinie Tempah born in 1988 - let's go on a date!

A bitta ruff'n'smooth...

Lookin all geek chic...

Bringing up the rear is Zane Malik from last years X-Factor - born in *covers face in shame* 1993... but in my defence yea, he goes out with Rebecca Ferguson who is older than me so yea...

Look at that bone structure...

Cor blimey!

 I'm not a cougar in the making...am I?

Hear Me Roar!

So if you're a follower/regular reader of my blog, you'll know that I started a new job in March...I've been working on the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity...it's basically the Oscars of the advertising world with workshops, seminars and masterclasses on...lots of creative things.

It's kinda hard to sum up without writing an essay so heres the link if you wanna find out more information: http://www.canneslions.com/

It was such an amazing opportunity to work with and get to know people that I wouldn't normally have the chance to meet...

The job was based in Camden but the actual festival is held in Cannes and I was one of the lucky people selected to work on the festival in France and it was... *sigh*

I couldn't be bothered to upload a gazillion pics on FaceBook, so I decided to be a bit extra and make a video montage of the highlights - the ones I was able to capture anyways!

Don't watch the editing, I aint tryna be Steven Spielberg, I just wanna live my life!

Bisous! < This means kisses in French
